Stonewall Sports Charlotte is actively seeking a new City Commissioner to lead the organization into the future.
Position Title: Stonewall Sports Charlotte City Commissioner
Length of Term: Two Years
Voting Board of Directors Position: Yes
Compensation: 100% Volunteer
Position Overview:
The City Commissioner shall represent the Corporation in an official capacity overseeing all sports functions within the corporation. The City Commissioner shall serve with the President as the only official legal representatives of the Corporation, and shall execute all contracts, permits, and other documents with legal significance. The City Commissioner and President shall be the only Directors with the authority to transact business on behalf of and bind the Corporation.
Responsibilities:
- Shall be responsible for carrying out all sports policies and sports directives of the Board.
- Direct and oversee all sports officers in the corporation and shall preside at meetings of the Sports Leadership Board.
- Responsible for reserving all competition fields, gyms, courts and any other venue needed for each sport each season.
- Responsible for securing and maintaining the Corporations liability insurance.
- Appoint committees necessary for Sports functions and these may include but not limited to sponsorship, player complaints, research and discipline, venue research, sports research, or request for proposals.
- Understand and promote the organization’s mission and mission.
- Be familiar with the organization’s programs, policies, and operations.
- Prepare for and attend monthly board meetings and appropriate committee meetings.
- Participate in fundraising activities and special events.
- Strictly adhere to confidentiality policies.
- Enhance the organization’s public image.
- Attend and actively participate in the annual planning retreat.
- Performs other responsibilities assigned by the Board.
- Determine, monitor, and strengthen the organization’s programs and services.
Qualifications:
- Excellent program planning, organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to lead and mentor a small team.
- The ability to communicate clearly and effectively in many mediums: Email, Social Media, Phone, In Person.
- Timeliness, dependability, and self-starter ability.
- Critical thinking, Strategizing, and Decision making.
- Understanding of Google Drive.
- Proficient in MS Office products.

Stonewall Sports Charlotte founded in 2014, is an LGBTQ and Ally not-for-profit sports league serving over 1,600 annual players and giving back over $150,000 to the local Charlotte NC community.
